1. Background Check

 

You can't teach until you get a background check by PG county schools. 

Lucky for you, there's a new online process. The details will be emailed to you.

 

Just make sure to have government issued ID (drivers liscence, passport, not UMD ID)

 

2. Choose a Day. Sign Up.

 

Teach as often as you like. About five teachers per day.

 

Teach your own field...or someone else's. The great thing about teaching children is that college students can easily learn the info.

 

The Lesson plan will be sent to you beforehand. Your group may pratice before the assigned day.

3. Teach!
         (What you all have been waiting for)

 

You will teach from 2:30 - 4:00 pm, but save more time for transportation.

 

TRANSPORTATION:

 

  Either by...

  • carpool

  • or Bus - leaves at 2pm

    • UMD shuttle 108 "Adelphi" (bus schedule)

    • From Stamp to stop 19, Mezzorott Rd & Riggs Road

    • Turn right on Riggs Rd. Adelphi Elementary is 3rd school on the right

 

IN CLASS: 

  • You will take turns teaching the lesson and setting up acivities

  • A teacher will help supervise the children

 

The Process

 

We teach at Adelphi Elementary on Tuesdays an Thursdays from 2:30-4:00 pm. If your classes are in the way, get involved by making a lesson plan! Stay aware through our montly meetings and by signing up to our email Listserv (seas.umd@gmail.com)
